We're Those Kids IMPORTED from the You Essay. (USA)

As the show comes closer and closer, people become more and more anxious.  We have learned a lot while living and being in the Burren here, from the land, eachother, and just being independent.  As the time for new memories of the BCA Spring Semester 2008 are coming to a ticking stop we are soon preparing to head out on our own.  I've been working on our poster and these are some of my ideas that have morphed from what they used to be to what you are going to see... remember these are copyrighted to Sykeskid... so please please please don't take 'em.

these aren't the only options for the design b/c some other people are working on ideas as well as me.

Berlin Dropped the Wall

So during the days of February 26 to the 29th we took a trip to Berlin, Germany.  I've always thought I would know what the city would look like... but I was totally blown out of the water... Berlin is amazing!  It is filled with graffiti everywhere... of which the people of Berlin call the tradition...  that is the tradition of graffiti.  We went to Checkpoint Charlie which is a big part of where the wall used to be... I think this is where a lot of people got to cross when they weren't supposed to or allowed to... we got to walk through noman's land like it was the easiest thing ever... which was totally a weird feeling.  We went to many galleries, which gave me an idea of how well Germany or at least Berlin, treats its artists.  There was art every corner you looked!!!  I took so many pictures of stencils and stickers that were everywhere!!!  We went to this building that was so artfilled... the inside and outside of the building was covered in people's tags and graffiti and stickers and stencils!  I forgot what the place was called but it was so neat!  Later that night that we went to the building we went up to like the 5th floor to the bar there and chilled out for a while.  The vibe was very chill and the room was dark with warm red lighting...
I ate so much food in Germany because everything there is so much less expensive than in Ireland... let's just say I seemed to be living the good life in the food department that week!  I ate a meal of about a whole pizza and a large glass coke for only 5 euros!  You could never get that here in the Eire, but I'm not hating on Ireland b/c I love it here...
Germany Germany Germany... the language barrier was so cute and some people spoke english which helped us so much!!!
We went to the Jewish Museum... it was so different from the one in Washington, D.C.  I actually felt okay when I left... it was more like a Museum with a lot of dedication to the Jewish people of Germany and everywhere... it wasn't depressing so much... it was more of a memorial... I felt good and it was nice to go there... I recommend that people go to the Jewish Museum in Berlin...

this is def. the short story version of my trip but sometimes it's just hard to write down everything... our hotel was pretty cool... i forgot to thad that part haha
but yes... berlin was cool
it was good to come back to ireland though
the magic here hasn't worn off...

Belfast Rang Like A Bell, But Really Fast.

Belfast weekend with IFSA Butler:

Left on Thursday, February 21, 2008.  I missed school that day to grab a lift to Galway, Ireland.  Then I got on a bus to Belfast, Northern Ireland.  This seemed like a rather long bus ride which I took while sitting beside a guy from South Carolina... it was crazy to hear a southern accent coming from someone not in my family... (I'm basically the only southern person at the Burren College of Art)...  anyways we arrived in Belfast and had a brilliant dinner with desert and everything!  I ate so much food!  Then we went to this famous bar called the Crown Bar, which had victorian decoration and the floor and ceiling were incroyable!  The next day we had a tour around Northern Ireland... hitting Giants Causeway, which was super super windy... and then we went to the county of Londonderry, or Derry depending on if you are Catholic or Protestant.  We also went to a castle called Dunluce but the wind was so strong that our emergency exit flew off the bus while we were outside... I didn't stay outside long b/c the wind was super dangerous...  then we got back and ate some dinner (we had to pay in quid (pounds))... then we went out and it was kind of a slow night that night... next day we had to ourselves... I went to the market with my roomie for the weekend whose name is Helle pronounced Hella!!!  Then I headed off to the Linden Hall Library to look at my name, Caldwell.  I also found my name Carra but spelled Cara... then I got lost on my own looking for galleries but I eventually found the two art galleries I was searching for... they were small but I guess they were worth finding them... Belfast is a somewhat depressing and scary city... but this is probs because I was walking around alone... but I just felt like I could feel the trouble there... It obviously has gotten way way way better than it used to be... but I'm glad I can say I've visited because it was quite an adventure.

xoxo Gossip Girl... hahah that joke never gets old...
