The "Dubs"

So this past weekend we, BCA, all 40ish of us, ventured to the east coast of Ireland. We went to Dublin, or Dooblin as I like to say. We left on Thursday and got back on Saturday. It was my first ever time EVER sleeping in a hostel. I do have to say that Barnacles (spelling?) was a much better hostel than the one I stayed at the second night. First day in Dublin we hit up so many museums. They were all art gallerys, big and small. My mind was way overloaded with art but that's okay for now. Later that night I got to hang out with my awesome Limerick Butler friends. I didn't get so see everyone but I got to see Devon, Harry, Sam, and Coleen. They are extremely enjoyable. I hung out with Hillary as well. The next day we went to a couple more museums. We went to the natural history museum and saw some dead bodies. These had been dead for a while. They were leather like. Kind of grossy grossersons if you ask me. Then we had the rest of the day to ourselves. I got some gellato with Josher (Joshua) and hung out with Josh and Sam. We ended up meeting later that night with Tyler, Elizabeth, Lena, and Shelbikins. We stayed at the Palace Bar and got some really awesome stuff called Cole Swan. So creamy. Haha. Then the sketch Hostel, I slept in my jeans and jacket and slept on a blanket I had gotten at Galway a few weekends ago. Just playing it safe if you know what I mean. Then around four thirty we went to the bus stop to leave. Josh, Annie, Olga, and I were there at a decent time but the bus ran out of spaces. We had to stay in Dublin for an extra hour. So like most Irish people, we stopped at a pub and ordered some Tea. (With cream of course). Then we got these yellow passes allowing us to get on the bus first. The others had to wait for us on another bus as we traveled. We stoped at some place that looks kind of like Oranmore. I think I'm spelling it right. We finally made it back to Orchard house. That was def. a sigh of relief.

Once back at Orchard I ate a snack and then went and cleaned my room for a bit. Then on Sunday I got to sleep in until 10:30 which was nice. I at a brunch and headed to the Castle, cough, I mean school. I worked until around 450ish... and said "my where has the time gone?" and questioned the time greatly. Then I got back to Orchard and got to talk to some of my favorite people in this world, my rentals. I then realized once more how much I miss them, even if we are all goofs sometimes! :). I truly miss my best friend, Drewster. It's been hard not hanging out with my bro whenever I can. I don't know what I'm going to do when he moves after Graduation... but then again I'm moving next semester as well. Sometimes change is difficult, but thank goodness for technology and ways of communication. I love my family with all my heart and now I'm getting all soppy so time to stop writing. I also wanted to ask people who actually take the time to read this if you could possibly leave a comment. You actually dont' need to have a blog to comment. Also, if you could somehow ask questions on the blogs so that I know what to write more about next time I actually get time to blog. THIS IS LONG!

What a Bleak Thursday

Today is Thursday.  It's windy and bleak.

Tomorrow I head to the Lyon's house for a homestay.  I get to meet people from the University of Galway, which will be pretty exciting!  Or at least I think so... next weekend we are heading to Dublin, huge city-life compared to that of Ballyvaughan, which is quant and wonderful.  I could totally live here.  Last night we went set-dancing again.  This time was quite interesting.  I was dancing with Olga and I had to be the guy.  "Let's face it" (Sara) being a guy when dancing is hard.  I'm going to give the male side some credit here.  It's darn hard to lead.  Then after that some drunk man danced with me and was all over the place.  I didn't want to dance with him but he insisted.  I kept up my Angelina Jolie Tomb Raider guard, so he wouldn't make a move.  Basically I invisioned myself kicking this dude's butt if he tried to get fresh.  It was kind of funny b/c we called him "Red-Shirt" b/c he was wearing a red jumper.  He danced with many of the Orchard house girls throughout the night.  Oh set-dancing in Ballyvaughan how you are lively.  Basically, watch out for really drunk Irish dudes in red jumpers.  They'll try to hit on you.  "That sweater you are wearing makes you look youthful," well that's b/c I'm 19 hahaaha... Oh goodness.  I'm safe, and that's all that matters.  I'll be back to write more later on after my homestay.  Tomorrow is Irish Studies (again) with Gordon D'Arcy who is actually a pretty famous dude in Ireland.

cool beans.
Have a brilliant day loves,
Sykes Kid signing out.

I Looked at a Naked Person for 6 Hours Today.

That's not awkward sounding at all!  Haha... no no no... It's a figure drawing class!  Or life drawing... you know the charcoal everywhere kind of drawing!  That's it.  So actually I was really nervous to start out with drawing but once the robe came down... it actually wasn't all that awk... I basically focused on drawing the body but through eyes that weren't starring at a naked person.  Our model's name is Bridget and she was super cool.  She had tattoos and gaudged ears.  She must be some hardcore Irish Rocker Chick.  WHOA! haha... So tomorrow is a free day and I'm hoping to get on skype at some point and talk to some people... as well as begin to paint and do more photograms for Martina's class (photo teacher).  I'm so inspired by everything here... the thoughts never seem to stop... even when I sleep it all just keeps coming.  I hope to get some work done soon so I can put them into my application for VCU.  Hopefully I'll turn up some good stuff.  My hands are charcoaled.  Grossy Grossersteens.

Peace people.
don't be a deby downer.

A Galway of a Day

Today we took the public bus to a city near Ballyvaughan called Galway.  Galway was basically a shop everywhere kind of place.  I am waiting for the perfect moment to find some sweet kicks but this day was not a kicks day.  I bought some stuff like shampoo and conditioner (I didn't get a chance to ask billy madison which is better).  Then I also got some art supplies and was tempted by a guitar that only cost €45.  I held off.  I got a sweet sweater from footlocker, all the clothes there are so Euro compared to the footlocker in the States.  I saw many GAA Irish jerseys and soccer jerseys but I held off on those as well haha but let's just say I was in sports heaven.  Nearing the end of our trip the rain started pouring down.  Gross.  Haha just playing... I've started getting more used to the rain here but today I just didn't have the gear.  We got to the bus station and my bag from the locker of foot was totally busted.  A little cute lady ran over to me and gave me her pink carrying bag.  It's amazing.  I mean I'm a total stranger and she offered me her bag.  Basically I could have cried b/c she was so sweet.  The fact is, she was an older woman with special needs.  She was wearing a neon yellow jacket (identical to the one I had dawned the night before for our crazy dance party).  She was so sweet.  I ended up giving her a little money which made me feel better.  DUDE. so basically I'm pretty much tuckered out from the day.  OH ERLANDAY you are wonderful.
I'm not married yet.
I don't have five kids.
That's the updatizzle.

I'm tired and must retire now from the Castle of Newtown...

2 in 1 Kind of Day

Well Hello,

Now I actually have time to write some more! I just got finished talking to the administrators about what classes I shall be taking. They are as follows:

Irish Studies: SO STOKED ABOUT THIS CLASS!
Life Drawing: I've never drawn a naked person before... this should be interesting haha
Intermediate Painting: Excited to paint! It's been a while.
Mixed Media: ah brings me back to those Ms. B days.
Intro to Photo: CAN'T WAIT TO TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS!

I live in this place:
I go to school in a Castle:

IT'S INSANELY MAGICAL HERE.
I wish that all of my extended family and friends could just move to Ballyvaughan right now and live here FOREVER... but then Ballyvaughan would no longer be a town of 400! :)

It's going to be quite the experience and I'm sure I'm in for a brilliant experience!

SO STOKED ABOUT THE BEGINNING OF ACTUALLY WORKING ON ART!

Also, I hope I get to hang out with my other Butler IFSA students again! Y'ALL ROCKED!
Keep Smiling Friends :)

WHAT UP EARLANDAY!

I'M HERE.
IT'S AWESOME.
I'LL UPDATE LATER.

love and miss.
SMILE TODAY!
